bbigman2000 pic 836lb shrugs !!

I can do 5 plates on each side and I am half your size, full range. Hopefully with in the nest 2 months I will be able to do that. That isnt on a smith machine is it?
 
No its a squat rack bro, I aint ever seen a smiths machine, wouldnt know what one was, I dont do anything that aint a free weight movement.

Why are you trying to take away from someone's accomplishment?
Secondly a shrug isnt a full range movement.
 
no flameage intended but are you working your traps or your ego? I don't see how 836lbs is necessary. I never go over 315bb or 145db. please explain if I am missing something here.
 
Godzila, My personal opinion is that big weights build big muscles, maybe that will work for you, but I go with what works for me and I am happy, progressively heavier poundages surely are the route forward ??
 
that would rip my fuckin arms out!! do you get any abnormal pain from this? even with my "lite" weight it hurts my bi's a little after the set, like they are over stretched a little....but you are lookin' beefy man, impressive.
 
that is impressive. what's funny is your hands are purple from those straps. i think 836lbs would rip my arms off like Jax's fatality in mk2.

By full range I mean all the way down and all the way up with a hold at the top. I always see guys in the gym barely moving up and down if any movement is there, that s why I call it full range. If that is not the correct term then I would like to know what it is. As for taking away from his accomplishment, that I am not. How can I take away from an 86x pound shrug? In my book he is an animal.

Thanks again for the comments guys, No I dont get any pain from this and I do only use the full range of movement, thats why I keep the weights in the rep rang of 10-16 on shrugs, I have done 5 reps at 925 lbs but it was silly and of no real use other than wrecking my back !!

Shrugs are meant to be HEAVY. 315 isn't going to shit. Do you think traps grow HUGE from 315lb deadlifts or from 600lb ones? Case closed.

I am 100% natural and I do shrugs with over 800lbs too. by my 25th birthday I shrugged 987 for 2 reps...I also poped my middle back out of place, but it was worth it.

It was atleast 500 pounds because at my gym we have one of thse indented shrug bars that wigh either 50 or 55 pounds I can't remember. I dont thinkI can go up 400 pounds in 2 months either but I am shooting for another 200.

In the gyms Iv been in which as been a lot.. I have been training for about 11 years and all I can say is BULL SHIT to the weights you guys are talking about....

Im 250 myself and I do 4plate shugs and it is plenty if you are doing them right!!!!

Give me a break.. I would love to go to your guy's gyms because you guys must be super human or really pathic... and I would probably look at you clowns and laugh my ass off!!

Fuck what you are saying makes no sense at all!! so I guess it means that guys with 22" biceps, curl 300lbs.. I dont think soo..

It just makes me laugh at some of the shit on this board!!

Just my .02 cents..

BTW: right now I work out at the same gym as Ms O and the British Champion and I watch them train all the times and they are not doing super human weights.. it is all form.. in my opinion and theirs

Gear, jeeeez you must be a beast bro, why dont you post up your pics for me to get an idea of how to do things.
I am training for strength and size, how am I supposed to get strength if I continue using lite weights all the time ??
I guess these pro body builders can afford growth/insulin/pgf2 and more, but does growth build strong muscles ??
 
Hey, I will be the first to admit that they are not the strongest in the gym, but pound for pound they are.. and im training for size and strength to but there is a limit where your form just goes to shit.. and all you are going to do is hurt yourself...

Would like to see a picture at the top of the movement. What you are showing is you holding the bar. I have seen too many incorrectly performed shrugs with too much weight in my life to be impressed unless I see a full rep. If you were able to do 14 full reps with that weight where you bring your shoulders up to your ears your trap development would be much better then it is. My guess is you are doing an 8th of a rep and counting it as one.

Agree with you bro, thats why when doing shrugs I only use weight that I can pull right up, I like a good squeeze and hold at the top, and I use what I can shift on shrugs for 10 - 20 reps. cheers..

I had trouble getting pics posted myself, I had photos scanned and mailed to me I then downloaded the attachments and saved them to disk, you then browse using the attach file section when you post.
