MOJO was bitten by a spider in the mouth!
He oinked real funny sounding and I saw his head twitching...I grabbed him up and his eyes were squinty and oozing. His tongue was visible so I opened his mouth and his entire tongue, and inner cheeks were bleeding a bit and very swolen, almost closing the opening completely.
I drove him to the ER and was told immediately that he was poisoned! Then after getting the third degree from the idiot in the intake room like I was the one who poisoned him, the Vet came out and told me that he was bitten by a brown recluse and was going deeper into shock!
He said judging by the progress of the venom that he was probably bitten a couple of hours before, and that it was more than likely an adolescent judging by the time of year. He said being a young spider the venom glands are not fully developed and this will be in MOJO's favor. So I finally left and MOJO has to stay for a couple of days tops. He was out completely, I told them to finish the treatment (of course regardless of the $) and let me know if he passes during the night. Apparently someone has to do something every few hours so there will be a contact person through the night.
