Sounds good, in theory but we are such a minority in this country. Now try placing the same penalties on booze and cigarettes then you'd have a point. People would be rioting in the streets. Just look what happened with prohibition.

Our legal system is nothing more than a patchwork quilt of unjust laws that served the needs of society at the time. That's why we have what today seem such absurd laws. Example, spitting on the side walks and streets. Those laws were past in the late 1700 and early 1800's when you had tuberculosis killing people by the 1000's daily. Seems kind of dumb today but back then it was to try to curb the spread of disease.

If there is a hot button issue, like steroids that gets a lot of negative media attention then you will have all the grand standing politicians in front of the cameras swearing they're going to do something about this terrible blight to society. That's when you see the lopsided justice like this case.

Law, morality and politics just don't mix.
