I don't know if this question is within your scope of knowledge, but I am running out of time for an answer so I thought I would try. I have a contest in one week, and the only diuretic that I can get is lasix. I was curious if you know when to start taking it and what dosage. Also if you should supplement with potasium to offset cramping. The lasix that I can get is injectable not tab form. Thanks a lot!

This is for everyone, just a Lasix rundown:

LASIX: (furosemide)
20mg or 40mg/tab
This is a very strong diuretic. Bodybuilders often use this drug to shed water in an attempt to attain greater definition in the muscles. Lasix acts very quickly; when taken orally its entire effect can be over in as little as two hours. Some athletes like this immediate effect because it allows them to judge their "new look" quickly and determine if they are too flat, or still not cut enough. Depending on their judgment, they might take an additional dose of the drug, or ingest more water to make up for over depletion. Some athlete’s claim they avoid serious cramping and other side effects associated with the use of this drug by supplementing extra mineral and potassium salts. This practice, although often effective, can be extremely dangerous. When self-administering diuretics and potassium salts, an extreme imbalance could result in heart failure. Fortunately most athletes who use Lasix do so only for a day or two before their competition. Dosages seen were around 40mg a day. This drug should be used under the care of a physician.
