Are Deads and BO Rows good for my back?

Well, I've been doing Straight-Leg Deadlifts for awhile now. I know they're supposed to work your lower back and hams but... are they good for you? It seems like it could adversely effect my training. Also, BentOver Rows seem like another exercise that would, in the long run, injure my back. Any input?

If you perform them correctly. . .they will not hurt your back. The key is to stick your butt out and keep your back flat. If you round your back. . . you are asking for trouble.

If your back is strong enough...nothing will hurt it.

Like Louden said, as long as you keep good form, you'll be fine.

Bent-over rows, deadlfts, and squats are, in my opinion, the toughest lifts to do (in that order) because of having to concentrate on your entire body for form.

They're also the absolute best at what they do!

well it just depends........ if you want to be big or strong, then yes they are essential....... if your just looking to firm up....... then i guess you could get away without doing them...... but i feel you just need technique advise
