I think my last post didn't show up so here is part if it again.

In my last gym, which I left because I thought it was too far away to get to often enough, there was a dedicated adductor and a dedicated abductor machine. You sat down on either one and did the exercise. Nice controlled movement, isolation of the muscle, meant I could relaly contract it without worrying about accidental back or ab or hip involvement.

Now, my new gym has this bizarre thing which is an adductor-abductor-hip extenion all in one thing. There is basically a single pad which rotates and can be fixed in several different positions. The idea is, you get the pad on the inside or outside of the thigh just about the knee, stand on the other leg, grab two handles with your hands and try slowly swing your leg in- or outwards.

I found that trying to lift ANYTHING with either leg in either direction led to strain on the back, hips or abs, or at least unwanted involvment in the movement, because of the difficulty of maintaining this awkward standing-on-one-leg pose while doing the movement.

This machine appears to be a piece of shit.

Anyone else encounter this and what do you think?

most of the ladies I see using it think they're going to burn inner thigh fat using it,
Oh yeah, no question there! I spend way too much time with these ladies - the average cardio bunny who believes ever asinine myth perpetuated by the media & 'Women's magazines' [I've been an aerobics instructor for almost 4 years].

Another good option - put the buckle around your ankle & do the leg lifts on the cable machine standing up. I did these on occasion just thinking it might help me move more gracefully when doing ballet. he he :lmao: Kinda like hearing about how piano players put weights on their fingers so when their hands are unweighted, they move quickly & gracefully. I'm not taking ballet anymore anyway.

Stick to compound leg movements with heavy weight - you'll effectively work your whole lower body without the 'gyno' machines!
