Anyone know the relationship between blood sugar and glycogen in your muscles?

I have a blood sugar meter my physician gave me last year when he was ruling out diabetes, and I'm wondering if it could reliably be used as some kind of gauge of the amount of glycogen you have available in your muscles.

I know that even in a non-diabetic person the blood sugar level does rise and fall in response to food intake, and I think glycogen stores rise and fall mainly in response to the amount of work the muscles have performed in a given amount of time, but there is obviously some kind of relationship between the two levels. For instance I'm wondering if perhaps I check my level immediately after a meal of low GI carbs and it is 115, then I check it again in 90 minutes and the level is 90, could I conclude from this that some of that sugar has been shuttled into the muscles and I'm approaching an optimal time for a workout.

Any ideas?

I think if blood sugar lowers it just indicates your pancreas/insulin production is working good.
It could be like a glucose curb...you make it higher because you eat, then it lowers because of insulin.
I hope it makes sense.

But doesnt a measure of that blood glucose end up in the musculature in the form of glycogen?

I may be really wrong but I think glycogen deposits into the liver, and THEn liver feeds muscle...
and glycogen is measured by a "Magnetic resonance spectroscopy" - glycogen - liver - muscle...maybe you can google it and grt presice information, I know a bit about medicine but not enough to say I know...:lmao:... :theshadow probably knows...He seems to be wiser than wise! :) :lmao:

Maybe..maybe not.

It could be shuttled to the liver as well

I think it does go to liver...did you check out that resonance site? Hoe glycogen is measured? I thought it was good...
BUT...:lmao: If I don't get Body fat% done...I don't think I would get that done either...The one thing I would love to get is the Lactic Acid Threshold!!!

No I havent checked it out myself yet. I read recently that LA is actually fuel though that can be used for energy instead of the longterm accepted notion that it was a sign of muscle fatique.

Hey I just noticed your location. I immigrated when I was 5. I live in Georgia of the U.S. Are you Mexican? Where do you live?
