Anyone have social anxiety?

I've never been diagnosed with it, but I'm pretty sure I qualify for it.

I stated this in another post and not sure if it has been said in this post, but relief to this problem can be sumed up in one word.

XANAX

LOL, I'm the exact same way... except I have General & Social and A.D.D. with no insurance right now.

Just take a look at my post count... been coming here for over a year now.
O well I guess it could be worse...

This problem can be corrected. I'm in the middle of a workout now but I'll get back to it. When I was 31 I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety disorder. Maybe or maybe not what it is, doesn't matter, something was very wrong. Medication has suppressed the problem. I'd like to be well without the medicine, but if I stopped now, I'd have horrendous withdrawal symptoms.

XANAX

Klonopin is much better than xanax. I use to take xanax and the effects would begin to wear off after 4 hours. (short acting drug). My doctor switched me to klonopin and the effects last up to 12 hours. I had withdrawal symptoms nearly every day it seemed like while on xanax. The drug wears off too quickly. I could take 2 valium and not even feel them.

Landser,

I feel the same way most of the time. I have noticed that bodybuilding attracts many people like us, because it can consume all you’re free time, if you want it to. Bodybuilding gives you a sense of accomplishment but the pursuit is never-ending and requires great discipline. I can find excuses not to do things with my friends because of reasons like, if we go out to dinner I won’t be able to keep on my diet or I can’t stay out late because I need to recover from training. I have been a bit better lately but still would consider myself a loaner.

I hear you. I believe.... No man is an island. Not good to be a loner. Just choose your friends wisely.

Well yah Xanax works... I always keep some bars handy or used to keep them for when I did go out (used to be a junkie). Now well I just use them for sleep for recovery... lol.

But I know if I do go get a script for them and know I definetly can, I will be hooked (benzo addiction is no joke seen it first hand). I've tried paxil and Effexor XR with little success. Has anyone had any luck with a shrink? I'm kindof skeptical... well embarrassed is more like it.

And to the dude who said about being shy... lol its way more than that. I remember when I was a teenager just walking down the hallway at school sometimes I would start sweating, shaking (it was more an inside shaking), heart would start racing, constantly thinking everyone was judging me, sometimes talking would start studdering and if I caught myself would trigger an attack most likely, worrying about where my hands were and the way I carried myself and so on. Even driving down the road specially in heavy traffic I thought everyone was looking at me they could tell I wasn't confident just by the way I was holding the steering wheel??? Just imagine this in any kind of social situation. It's nothing like it was now, I guess being 195 10%bf helps but it's still very real.

OK let me rephrase then.... :)

why is being scared in new situations or in front of strangers not normal?

for sure, every well built ladies man i have ever known has anxiety and tends to be shy. its weird. i personally get stared at so much that it starts to bother me rather than flatter. i used to think my jewelry got attention, than i did deca and wore a tank top to starbucks. ive had anxiety for 5 years, and i am finally beginning to just not care. who cares. ask anyone out, the answer no is usually the worst thing you will have to deal with in life, is what i have learned from being a shy but smooth pimp who loves the pussy. i wish girls new this then they wouldn't tell us to be more sensitive.

I've never been around people long enough to find out. I prolly do....
