I'm looking at a '96 bronco to replace the one my "friend" wrecked. It's in california and I was outbid by $50 and have received a second chance offer.

I have been looking for an 06 Cadillac DTS thru ebay and they have some great deals. They have a rating system for each dealer which allows you to view comments and complaints from people that have bought from that dealer. I hope that helps. Good luck

I've not personally but I do know peeps who have bought boats, motorcycles, classic cars, airplanes and helicopters.

If the experinces were not good then I dont think they would have kept repeating the process.

my deal is I've been offered a "second chance" and I wrote the guy back and sent him my e-mail and my mobile number as well as an 800 number. He writes back that I need to send ebay my name and address etc. I don't mind paying transaction fees, but shit I'd like to talk to the guy before I book a flight out there.

Sounds reasonable. If the seller is giving you a hard time about talking to you, maybe a red flag?

I would tell the guy that you are talking about alot of money and you would like to talk to him live or you are not interested. If he is legit, he will give you his #.

yeah that's what I figure
the sales figure is in line with what's expected
so no red flag there
many people east of the mississippi aren't interested in traveling to LA to buy a vehicle
so he some interest is attrited due to that
I have an x-gf in LA and I'll fly a guy who works for me other there too(he's a mechanic) and we'll have some fun in LA and then make a cool road trip back to alabama

Cars don't rust here, in California

They just run out of gas
I know and you have stringent inspection laws
when I dated that girl in LA I spent a lot of time there and rarely saw a "junker" on the roads

interior looks good and he's taken precautions against sun damage on the dash

does it come with a gun rack? lol jk bro.

I bought our band a van off ebay, it was only like 11k and was great for about a yr... then we started discovering all this crazy shit. I.E. problems that were not disclosed at the time of sale. The transmission had been on it's last leg since day one of us getting it, we didn't know how bad it was until we spend 2k having it rebuilt *4l80e isn't a cheap rebuild*, also the heatercore or somethign ruptured and there was damp coolant under all the carpet padding that was creating this weird smell from time to time... we paid about 5k less than the van would have cost us locally though... so go figure, maybe worth it for some.

I still hold strong to my statement... cars are like women. You don't want them to be used or have undisclosed issues.

I'm a bit too old to chase virgins
the only vehicle I've ever bought new was a '98 supra turbo
wish I had bought two of them, but there were only 5 left at the time and I knew the owner of the dealership so he located me one

Or he's hiding the sun damage that's already there.

most second chance offers are scams...they sell the truck to bidder number one and try to keep your funds.

I did a little research on hombre out west
gave him a call

If you can find his home phone so that you can match an address, that's another story.

EBAY is considering removing the second chance option. Most car sales state in their listing they do not provide second offers.

I bought a car from there recently and I made the seller give me his home number before I would proceed.

I would be very suspicious of the second chance offer....

that being said, I have bought one motorcycle (2006 model) and sold a bike on ebay.

My family have bought a couple Cadillacs and quite a few motorcycles. Never through second chance offers. SCAM - seller has a friend that bumps up the high bid consistantly throughout the auction (just went too high so no one else outbid). If you are serious about the vehicle tell the seller you are still interested in the vehicle at your highest bid - and nothing above that! Kind of obligated to buy it if you have to fly to get it. Don't pay with anything but cash in person, gives you a chance to test out the vehicle.

Talk to him before hand. I talk to people before I bid on anything big and most small stuff for that matter. If he is not willing to communicate then don't do it. I have bought and sold tons of stuff on ebay including selling 2 vehicles. I have had almost all good experiences but some bad. The ones that were bad were the people you can never get in contact with. Make sure they are stand up and willing to work with you before agreeing to anything.

Also how long after the auction ended did you get the offer. Check out who outbid you. The guy might be using a fake account to try to drive the price up and then just send out a second chance offer for whatever the highest bid he got was.
