:fro: Hey Guys

I know this question my sound rediculous but I have a slight problem. About 4 years ago I broke my right leg, ok so I was given medicine to bring down the swelling etc, only problem was at the same time I had my appendix removed so I was not allowed to eat or drink anything (yep not even take my medicine) for about 5 days.

People that I knew who had broken their legs told me that when the cast came off their broken leg was smaller, but mine was bigger, now my ankles are uneven, my left ankle is skinny while my right ankel is chunkish

Yep I know its WIERD
does anyone know what I can do to exercise ankels (lol - it sounds silly I know) but Im hoping someone will have some advice for me

Thanks
BATZ

first thing that comes to my mind is some scar tissue that didn't heal properly....

not sure if that's the case and if so, what if anything can be done about it...

maybe try working/breaking the other one to match? :D

welcome to the boards... g/l with the ankle thing... maybe ask your doctor?

Hey BatZ!!! Welcome, welcome, welcome!!

SOUTH AFRICA!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

:D :spin: :wavey:   :twirl:

You're the first I've seen here. I'm the only other South African I know about around here. (Unless you just live there, and come from somewhere else) - I DO hope you'll stick around here - it's a great board.

Forgive me if I seem a bit too over-enthusiastic - I'm just homesick. What city are you in?

Sorry I can't help you with your leg. What exercises are you doing right now, anyway? Maybe if you do lots of calf raises people won't notice your ankles??

What did your doc say?

More likely that there was extra scar tissue. That happens often, but you can get ortho-scopic surgery to remove the extra tissue.

Unfortunately the surgery is the only way to go:( I too broke my ankle it just so happens I broke the other one too so I have a matching pair;) both on the outside of each leg:p

Hey Steel

Well Im glad to see Im not the only boerkie in here;)) Well I was born and raised in South Africa but both my parents are Greek. So I guess you could then call me a Greek-South-African
Well Im doing plenty calf raisers hoping that they will increase the size of my calfs and draw attention away from my uneven ankels, but hey we arent all perfect are wee

It's hard to say what the problem is without an examination. It could be fibrous or calcified scar tissue (is it hard or lumpy)?. It could be from damaged lymph drainage (is it puffy or swollen looking)?

Local massage, compression bandages, elevation or movement may help lymph drainage (depends on how bad the damage is). Surgery would be necessary to remove scar tissue.

Well.

Hey MS

Well its not realy hard, but lets say for instance when I wear socks my right ankle swells up and has the top of the sock mark around it that hurts.

I think I should consult my doctor as most of you suggested here, but hey surgery :( Eish Im a scardy cat but will check it out

Thanks Guys (and girls heheh)

I'll bet money you have impaired lymph drainage. See a quack. Sometimes physiotherapy can help, and ummm, support stockings (I know it doesn't sound too sexy) to assist venous return.
