any bass players?

Guitar and bass! Favorite bass players: Chuck Rainey, Anthony Jackson, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Jaco Pastorius, Neil Stubenhaus, Will Lee, Leland Sklar, Michael Porcaro, Nathan East etc.

I am having a hard time finding a new bass player. I am doing a demo for Ross Robinson and every time I audition a guy he sucks. The material is all mine since I wrote, sing, arranged and play guitar on it so I need a guy who can add to that and basically keep it simple(think Helmet,Deftones,Filter). So...I talk to these guys on the phone about it and when they come to play they want to "jam". I am like damn you dumbass, we need to work on the songs I am planning to record. I get guys who say they are into similiar material then they come over and are "really" into Radiohead. ARRGGHH. I love Radiohead but that is not what I am trying to do you know. The search continues. You'd think being in So Cal that you'd be able to find someone but all the bass players here want to be Blink 182 or Unwritten Law=crap!!! I think I will end up playing bass myself on the demo and hire a live player. So hard to find cool people nowadays.

BRC, it's very hard to hook up with the right musicians. I always
say, there is lots of talent around, BUT to make a good band, it
has to be a group of people who have exactly the same musical
concept and goal. When people start getting their different ideas,
it usually causes dissention, and the band to crumble, or make music that is pointless. It ain't so easy, or we'd all be playing in
huge bands.

Jesus Perkele, for someone who has good taste in T-girls, your
musical tastes are boring :sleep2:

It's harder to find a good singer. Musicians are, for the most part, flakes. It's damn hard to find serious, dedicated musicans. Though I do suppose the larger the area you search in the better your results would be.

Since I sing, play guitar and compose the music I am sort of a dictator which some people cannot deal with-I have no problem with a good player adding to the music but usually they want to copy some other style and fuck it up so I just tell them what to play. My girl plays drums and I am just going to record the bass parts myself and find someone to play live with us. Probably start looking in LA, lots more hard rock people up there. I really would like to find a chick bass player, but I doubt I can be that picky. Either way the demo will stand on its own. I will get on Ozzfest next year regardless. If any of you want a copy of the demo when it is done, let me know. My music is similar to Helmet,Filter,Deftones,Soulfly-that kind of heavy groove rock.
