Last hard training day before my contest Saturday in Nicholasville Kentucky. Goal was to hit the gym weights moderately with no extras and then move on to events, fairly heavy, few sets.
Bottom Position GM's (feet 48" apart)
several warm ups
345 x 1
395 x 1
445 x 1 PR!!!!
Log Clean and Press (no shelf with the belt allowed)
warm ups
240 x 1
273 x 1
301 x 1 PR!!!!
Carry and Drag
2.5" handles on the farmers, parallel grip handle on the sled...on grass
150 farmers, 100ft, 1 turn...grab 135b sled and drag 100ft
135lb sled 100ft...then I lost my breakfast!!!!!! Yuck!!!!
(cleats help out a lot on the grass)
Conan's Walk
405 x .....couldn't get it off the ground...
405 x .....ditto...
315 x 75ft
Stone Loading
115 pound tree stump to 72"
155 pound H. Stone to 49"
180 pound keg filled with water to 49"
185 pound atlas stone to 58"
320 pound atlas stone to 58"
I did them all in sequence and my hands were so dirty from the stumps that I could not stick to the atlas stone. It was slick so I used a very little bit of tacky on my hands only.
Learned a few things:
$20 cleats do come in a size 16 and they work great on the grass
Don't eat egg sandwiches before event training
Egg sandwiches tast horrible on the way back up
I need a conan's wheel badly
It is very important to drink lots of fluids in the Summer
2.5" handles are hard to hold on to
Showers are my friend...
Here is a pic of my GM set up...
