Another annoying ab / sixpack thread, do I need to cut more carbs?

why do you want to get down to 5%?

although you could be an exception, my intuition is that with a 39inch waist at 230 you are holding a lot less LBM than you thought.

i was 245 and had a 39, sadly. i think i was low to mid 30s in BF im now 210 and have a 32inch waist and am about 15%, i dont know if this post even makes sense im so tired

Unless my last 3 body fat measurements have been totally off I'm pretty sure that 13% of 230 is 29.9 pounds of fat. So that leaves just over 200 pounds lean mass. As for the 39 that is an honest relaxed measurement of my waist which is measured at your biggest area around the love handles and across the belly button. Guys with 50 inch guts still think they are 30 inch waists because their pants snug around there little asses. When measured properly people often find out how full of shit they are especially when measuring height. All of my fat stores have been right at my belly button area and on my sides. I look pretty cut right now even with my large waist. As for why I want to get to 5%, why the hell not. I know I can do it, with proper training and diet, plus for me I know that being skinny naturally will make it pretty easy. I don't know if you read my original post but it took me a long time and a lot of heavy eating to turn myself into 13% fat. 13% fat by most charts for males is still in the atheletic category. Most guys never see that after years of work, so naturally being thin for me is an advantage to getting even thinner.

Louden why the angry smilie, something I said? You'll have to check out my newest thread I gave a shout out to you, your my favorite member here and I admire your physique the most.

Cobra,

Keep burning calories, but make sure you are eating a few carbs for energy.

The key is to burn more calories than what you are taking in. . .this constitutes weight loss.

Also, sodium will also retain fluids, so watch your sodium intake.

Louden those pics that you are always changing up in your avatar, are they contest pics or just for the hell of it. You look like you got crazy cut tanned and oiled up for a photo shoot. Do you maintain a body fat level close to that in your pics or was that a one time thing to see how cut you could get. Are you a lean guy at heart or do you prefer to bulk and gain size.

the road from 10% to 5% is a lot different than 15% to 10% is why i ask. You certainly risk losin muscle, at a much higher level with the former. Not to mention women generally are turned off by sub 8% or so bodyfat. men on the other hand..... haha just make sure you know what you're gettin yourself into.

As for me, no matter how high i pull my pants up, these 37's still fit but i'lll admit i'm higher than 13% right now. Possible you have a very hypertrophied midsection but much more likely you are holding a lot of subcutaneous and visceral fat around there, more than you suspect.

I am having the same problem losing the waistline fat. My waist has been staying right aroun 35-36"(sucking the gut in that is) and I have tried low carb without much success. I am 5'11" 190 at an estimated 17-18%bf and looking to get lean. I am going to up my HITT sessions to 4 a week and just do 3 days a week full body workout. Any advice on losing getting lean? I eat very clean and am running around 2200 cals a day during the week. Should I up the cals to lose BF? Or lower them? Whatever I am doing doesn't seem to be working.
