Am I working out properly? (advice appreciated)

Hey there,

Im 21 years old weighing roughly 130 pounds at 5'8. Im currently trying to put on lean muscle mass and not fat in order to raise my weight.

As of right now, I'm using Pure Protein: 100% pure whey powder to help me achieve this. I take one scoop (25g's of protein) a day directly after my work out.

When I work out I usually start with cardio for 2 miles, followed by ab routine, finished by whatever muscle group im targetting that day (aka biceps and chest)

My current meal plan is:

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs with ham and a bowl of cereal
Lunch: Protein shake with half a sandwhich
Dinner: Chicken breast slices sandwhich and a bowl of cereal.

As of right now, I'm trying to build more upper body muscle (mostly my arms) without gaining weight in other areas. Unfortunately, I am having problems with this. Since ive started taking the powder, my chiseled abs are starting to slowly fade. Ill admit right now I have self weight insecurity issues and this is starting to be a problem for me. I dont know if there is something I am doing wrong or not.

All advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S: I like to just specify I am trying to gain muscle while still cutting down in the middle. So any links or knowledge would be appreciated.

You need to eat more. 5'8" 130 is pretty skinny man. Calculate the Marcos you need. I would say get 150g-175g protein. At least 70g fat n rest carbs. Idk how active you are so cant say exacty how many calories you need. But 2200 would be a decent number to start (AGAcomics a guess but it seems reasonable place to START for your weight)
Abs on a skinny guy are boobs on a fat girl. Doesn't count. If you are serious about building a complete physique, work your whole body. An upper/lower split twice a week would be a good way to start.
Don't do cardio before your lift. ( I also don't feel you need cardio being the weight you are- not trying to sound offensive)
Monday-Upper Body
Tuesday-Lower Body
Wednesday-Off
Thursday-Upper body
Friday-Lower body
Weekend off (something like that)

And eat whole food. Rice, chicken, beef, whole eggs, nuts, veggies, fruits.

Some peoples bodies just aren't meant to hold much weight. From your age height and weight I'm gonna say you're a ectomorph, meaning you're a hard gainer and have a fast metabolism. Really all you need to do is eat more food. Try the beefcake shake from protein factory! This is guaranteed to add mad mass and lean muscle!

squidknob;
Get this with splenda and vanilla!

First: This shake tastes amazing. Sometimes I mix it up just because I crave a delicious snack.

Second: This is a kick ass low GI weight gainer. If you are trying to pack on some extra poundage and bulk up then look no further. Three scoops is about 400 calories.

Third: Its got it all: Protein, Carbs, Fats. Add a tsp of FVG (Fruit, Veggie, Green Powder) and you got yourself a killer shake.

I had H Pyloria when I was younger which is a bug in your stomach and it basically made me lose mad weight. I lost like 25 pounds in 3 months.

I drink a protein shake directly after lifting because they say thats best. If i do cardio second, I would have to weight 45-1hour after drinking the shake. Is that bad? also, I was considering splitting up working out during the day.Lift in the afternoon and do cardio later at night. Is this a good or bad Idea?

I had that a year ago and it sucks! I couldn't eat or drink without puking it up. Try that beefcake shake and eat more, I'm telling you it'll work!

Drink your protein before you work out or eat something high in protein 30-45 min before working out, the reason behind this is that protein is harder for your body to break down and results in more cals being burned so if you do this you will kick start your body. Also don't do more than one or two groups a day. You don't need to spend but maybe 45-50 min in the gym to get a good workout.
This is my routine.
Mon- back
Tue- bis/tris
Wed- chest
Thu- shoulders
Fri- legs and abs

3 sets of 8 increasing by 10 lbs each set
Except for the bench and back those go up by 35.
