Does anyone in here eat almonds as a snack sometimes? They are a very good protein source, loaded in calories for those looking to add cals, but very high in fat....anyone eat em though?

Yeah i like to snack on almonds too. The fat isn't that bad and i am not sure but i think they are the lowest GI nut or whatever or close to it.

the fats may scare people... but the majority of fat in almonds is monounsaturated. This is a "good fat" is the same type found in olive oil, which is valued for its healthful properties. The fat profile of almonds is even more desirable because it is lower in saturated fat than olive oil...

One ounce (28.5 grams) of almonds contains 6 grams of protein, 6 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of dietary fiber, no cholesterol (only mono & polyunsaturated fats) and more than 35% of the daily requirement of vitamin E, one of nature's most powerful antioxidants and believed to play a role in preventing certain kinds of cancer, heart disease and cataracts. Almonds are one of the best plant sources of protein....

The fats in Almonds are mostly EFA's. Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. All good for you and necessary for the construction of cell walls. I eat almonds instead of flax seed oil. [shudders] Blech. The fiber is great as well.
