Agility exercises for my dad

DevoutSinner

New member
Geetings all.

My Dad is 72,hits the weights regularly, and does his aerobics.

Shit,he's in better shape than most dudes that are half his age. Thing is,his mobility/balance is starting to really deteriorate. I'm trying to come up with some sort of program that he can incorporate into his regime. He also seems to be rapidly tiring of my,"you move like pregnant yak on qualudes, ancient one",remarks.:D

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks.

I suppose pylometrics would be too dangerous

Yes,I agree.

"sounds like old age."

Ya think?

Of course some of it's old age.

I'm not looking for some sort of Dorian Gray solution. Just some stuff that might help.

Peace.

Sinner.

well what i was getting at is that his bones may be weakening, he might be geting some arthritis, which is causing the lack of mobility. Doing plyometrics would surely injure him and at that age would take a long time to recover.

Maybe some single leg toe raises would help. jogging up and down steps. Stretching at least 30 minutes a day.

I would try to get him into Power Yoga or pilates or some type of non impact stretching and balance routine

Both of those sound good. He's definitely not a,"go to a class kinda guy," though. Do you know of any websites, books, video tapes, ect.?
