Advice Requested: Training for multiple goals

For most of my training life I have focused primarily on the LGN plan - Look Good Naked. I'm pretty pleased with the general shape and proportions of my frame. Ideally I'd like to add maybe a touch of size to my chest and shoulders and maybe fill out my back/traps, but that's a pretty minor element of the question/issue.

More recently I've started training for endurance events - more specifically for medium to long distance trail runs (8 mile race this weekend and hoping to run a half marathon trail race at the end of February). As a result I'm putting in as much as 25-35 miles of running a week.

I'd also like to work on increasing strength in my upper body. I lost 80 pounds in 2011 (got fat working behind a desk for over a decade and finally got tired of it). With that loss of weight came a pretty substantial drop in strength. I'd like to work on rebuilding that strength and maintaining - or ideally even adding - lean mass.

While I have plenty of experience bodybuilding (as in shaping my frame - not competing) and lifting, I am very new to competing in endurance events and have certainly never tried to work on both at the same time.

I am intrigued by the idea of running a 5x5 program, but I'm pretty sure squatting heavy 3x/week is not exactly compatible with running 25+ miles a week and would lead to some serious overtraining issues for my legs.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to structure a training program that can help with both of these goals?

About me:

Age: 37
Height: 6'
Weight: 195
Bodyfat: 11-12%

I'm currently running a SARMs triple stack with Albuterol and am in my first week of the 8 week cycle. Will be doing a mini-bridge afterwards and then running my first injectible cycle (needto is advising TestP/MastP/Var and that's the most likely option at this point).

Any help would be appreciated.

From what I've seen I don't think it's really possible to do long distance running and also have a hard body of lean muscle and mass. Long distance runners look like....well.... long distance runners. They are lanky, thin, and can be pushed with the breeze for the most part. You being 6feet and 195lbs tells me you are fairly built and that is not the body type a long distance runner, or even a marathon participant would have.

Short distance and sprint runners have the body type that you do, because they of course are training for power and explosivness, oppose to the endurance factor of a long distance run. So to actually answer your question, I (key word is "I") do not think it is possible to achieve both of these goals at the same time. Someone looking to run 8miles with almost 200lbs of pretty lean muscle seems far fetched. My personal advice would be to choose one or the other, follow your passion.

I got a few brigades of Air born solders that would disagree with you my friend... :p:p
