advice needed on choosing a diet!

hi all....this is my first post, and i'm not sure if its in the right place or not...but when i saw some other gal's questions posted in the diet forum, they were referred back to this section (by the guys)for more advice from women! so i figured i'd start here!

my boyfriend has been wanting me to get some diet advice from women bodybuilders, so here i am! i want to lose some serious fat!! i am overweight and have been "dieting" pretty much all my life with success at some times....not so much for most of the time. he has mentioned doing CKD from his own bodybuilding experience, but i can't determine from my research if it will work as well for someone who isn't already a bodybuilder.

so, my question i guess is this: which type of diet would be most beneficial? basic low calorie or the keto low carb diet? we are getting married this summer, and i am in "highly motivated lose it now!!!" mode!!

these are my stats:
36 years old, 5'5", 230 lbs, 30% body fat (gag!)

my goals are to lose as much weight/fat as possible by our wedding (no set date yet...most likely june 2010)

my current training schedule is lazy. i do a lifting class at my gym x2 a week (they do full body circuit with bar/dumbbells.) and cardio classes x3-4 a week. those include kickboxing, zumba, step, and sometimes yoga for the stetching.

current meal plan....is non exsistent. hoping to figure that out from some advice in here! ;)

medical/meds: no salient medical concerns. i take depo-provera shot for birth control which is progesterone based. i trained for and completed a full marathon (walking it) oct 2009, and since then my hips have never really recovered. just achy and stiff all the time, but don't hamper any activities. my man would like for me to start HGH as he says it has a history of helping with fat loss as well, but i don't know much about it.

i think thats about all the info i can think you might need to provide thoughts and advice. ....if i left something important out, please let me know!! any and all feedback about the best, quickest, most efficent way for me to get rid of as much fat as i can, while starting the process of getting in shape...hopefully even toned one day!....would be greatly appreciated! thanks so much!!!

I think it is best to start with a basic clean diet first and see how that works then tweak things with carbs etc as your progress slows down.

At your current weight you should be taking in about 2300 calories per day this may seem high but if you start to low with calories you will have difficulty losing the weight as things progress.

Diet wise start with a ratio of
40% Protein
30% carbs
30% fats (good fats)

Stop eating carbs after 6 p.m.

You should be getting a gallon of water in a day you can also drink green tea as much as you like

These are approved foods (if it is not on the list you shouldn’t be eating it)

Chicken skinless breast
Turkey skinless breast
Fish
Lean beef
Buffalo
Egg whites
Omega eggs
Skim milk
Low-fat cottage cheese
Wild-game meat
Sweet potato
Ezekiel bread
Steamed brown rice
Oatmeal
Barley
Beans
Kidney beans
blueberries
Strawberries
greek yogurt
Broccoli
