AAHHHH!! what is the best canadian city to live in?

Montreal!

final!

please avoid ottawa, Toronto, Halifax. Regina EH, Winnipeg.

Why Mtl: peoples are friendly ( most of the times ), two different cultures at one,
lots of stuffs to do in summer we have more than 20 big world reknown festival
from the Jazz fest to the Just for laught and I pass.

lot to do around the city too, from Ski, scuba diving, fishing, hunting.
lot of clubs, bar pub, some of the best restaurant in the country.

Other cities I like in Canada, are Kingston ( old one ), Calgary is not bad, Van.

Toronto is too torontonian, but for an american you might like just feel at home.

Im not from Mtl but north of it. I prefer the suburbs compared to the town and I travelled around the world and I can say Montreal rules, but my fav cities are NY, London, Dublin,
Franfurt.

Take it from someone that lives in Toronto, you will never be bored here. I guess you could say it is the Canadian version of New York. (OF course Canada is alot less hectic and crazy). I would suggest moving to Montreal, believe it or not they don't speak that much french there. Plus the area is a whole lot nicer not to mention not as expensive. Where ever you end up you will love Canada. Good Luck!

No offense but " Montreal, believe it or not they dont speak that much french there" what the hell???

I lived there for 26 years and they speak alot of french there including the english parrts of town. I speak both languages and have worked there as well as grew up there so I know what I speak.
Montreal is a great city and yes there are jobs in certain industires(espec dealing internationally) where it wont be the end of the workd if you dont know french.

As far as Toronto goes yep you will never be bored there, but unless you make more then 120000 a year or have 15 roomates in a one room apartment you wont be ble to afford to go out and have real fun all the time unless you like maxing out all your credit and going into debt. Or unless you live with mommy or daddy that is.

the largest city i have lived in to date is currently fort worth with 504,000 in the city and well its close to dallas just inside the city alone is 1,047,350 and there is a retarded amount of suburb/cities surrounding these two cities and connecting them

i havent really experienced much of what a large city is like, been to chicago but was too young to do anything, so thats why this nightlife and other activities is a bit over me, i am used to being homebound :/

the plans are still set with montreal, as i havent talked of anything else to dread lord yet,
but i guess that depends if we visit and for some reason dont like it or just cant find a place to live.
then we might be looking else where

calgary and toronto are looking good, with vancouver in third, i would say

milhouse, thx for the brutal honesty
that is exactly what i am looking for

tell me why i should NOT move to any of these cities
we are moving to canada one way or another, but i need to know what is bad about it

when we moved to austin tx we heard blah blah blah good bullshit
well, it is the most god awful rotten "town" i have ever seen! burn in hell austin! it doesnt deserve to be called a CITY!

so im saying, dont let us make the same mistake twice :)

honestly, and i have lived near toronto and calgary... for what you seek it sounds like calgary might suit you better (unless of course you can handle the commute into toronto).

the humidity in southern ontario is brutal imo.. .that said, i'm still looking at toronto as a job possible for me.

the downside of calgary is it's relative geographic location. at least in toronto area you live in a good radius of a lot of cool cities. hell, you could even drive to NYC, boston, or chicago from there.

the bonus to calgary is the mountains for skiiing/snowboarding.

however, winters in calgary are colder... it's the chinooks that make them bearable... however, as a texan you'll freeze your little nipples off until you're used to it ;)

OAK you are INSANE for suggesting someone live in hamilton or london. london is BOOOORING and crawling with annoying undergrads (30K of them)... and hamilton is as dirty as heck imo.

Ok, I agree with the London thing but there are some really nice areas in Hamilton. Grimsby is a really nice town. Stoney Creek is pretty nice. Now Smithville...there's a rockin' town.

Best Canadian City...... i believe that fits the definition of
oxymoron n : conjoining contradictory terms (as in `deafening silence')
:D :D
