We have about 10 stray cats that we feed and they hang around outside. One mother cat had a batch of kittens about a month and a half ago.
Well anyway, it is common for kittens to get eye infections. usually they will get mucus (snot) build up in their eye and in some cases there eye will close up with a layer of tissue or whatever, by that time they have basically lost their eye, as far as I know.
Almost all of the kittens have infected eyes right now, I think it will go away but one kitten had a severe case. The mucus started building in his eye and dried up, causing his eye ball to protrude about an inch out of its socket. The entire eye was covered in dried mucus so that you could not see it.
Today, one of the other cats came by and unknowingly loosened the eye some more. I finally decided to just take it completely out. So I just took a piece of bread that I was feeding the cats and smacked it in the face. The eye ball came off and now the cat feels alot better, is a lot more energetic and happy.
Sorry this is long, but its a rather horrible and strange story.
