A serious question about lifting iron and sex.

I am curious about any personal stories or reserch anyone might have about sex (orgasms actually) and lifting iron.

I think we have all heard that boxers and strength athletes and such are told not to have sex before comps as the release of it will hurt there performing the sport. I wonder if this is true?

Can a orgasm too soon before a workout can hurt my performance possbily? Make a person weaker or too relaxed? What happens to our hormone levels when we cum and can this hurt our athletics?

I usually like to wait until after just because of the exhaustion issue. Though I've been occassionally distracted by a well muscled set of traps doing cable flyes..... just imagine the possibilites with those cable frames & a set of wrist straps, or restraints -- which ever happens to be available ;)

Um, sassy ... I, er, think she meant BEFORE actually GOING to the gym ...

But I like your thinking there - cables, wrist straps, incline bench ...

I think the theory about sex too soon before an event is just that, a theory, but I don't know for sure.

I think we need to ask the powerlifters ...

But in the meantime, I'm up for testing the theory :D

Just a theory.

However, it actually is possible to fatigue muscles/groups and therby inhibit performance.

But there are certainly worse reasons for missing a workout.

Mag, I will test the theory this week, in detail, and get back with you.

Be scientific about it. Do pre- and post-sex lifts and do comparisions.

Mag, we can test the theory together and find out
I KNOW i would be weaker after a session with you torchy! 150 pounds bench would crush me. LOL

I made this thread because sometimes it seem like my drive and/or energy is rather low after a...um session....and my lifts are down. Arioch i definatley agree that there can be some muscles that are fatigued after sex and that can obviously make a difference. But it seems sometimes like i am too weak, even when it was my partner giving me a guick one and i didnt even "work" at all.

Is there a T crash after a orgasm? Or are there chemicals released after cumming that relax the body and hurt athletic performance. I never go to sleep after it like i hear that men often do, but certainly i feel more relaxed.

Perhaps it's just me, but *post* exhaustion is not an issue! I could tear something apart, and for the most part just want to EAT and do it again.

YOU NEED A VACATION TO ATLANTA RIGHT NOW!
