a good video on the bad effects of aspartame[/QUOTE]
Everything is in the dose. Almost anything will kill you if you take too much and the amount of methanol released would require a LOT more than the average person could consume to have a physiological effect. Even so, some percentage of the population will be hypersensitive to just about anything, e.g. peanut allergies.
For me, I don't plan on giving up Diet Coke but I will be cutting back some.
I do think there is an issue with the combination of additives.
There are a huge number of studies that show people who consume a large amount of diet drinks are not doing themselves any favours.
Even in the video they have said that serotonin, epinephrine levels are affected by the combination of asparatame and large amounts of carbs (probably simple), and aspartame and caffeine.
The ADI (Accepted Daily Intake) of aspartame diet sugar is 100 packets of Equal, Nutrasweet, etc. a day, that's according to scientific studies, of course we cannot trust every doctor in this capitalist system. Rumsfield is a large stock owner of Monsato the company which makes the key ingredient for aspartame (Go figure, a neocon fascist)
I hope you are wearing a NIOSH/OSHA approved dust respirator. There are established airborne exposure limits for aspartame (N-(L-α-Aspartyl)-L-phenylalanine,
1-methyl ester)
Workers in food manufacturing that are exposed to high amounts of flavorants and additives are at risk for many adverse health effects. Just ask the microwave popcorn factory workers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diacetyl#Worker_safety
From personal experience I can tell you that I get edema from ingesting aspartame, my blood pressure goes up, I get head aches, nose bleeds, achy joints, fatigue, and depresion. Days of no aspartame and all the sides vanish.
Starchy-carbohydrates gives me edema not aspartame
Hey my friend, do u mean u get fluid-retention in your body when u ingest nutrasweet, equal or any diet sugar containing aspartame? I mean do you get a facial swelling, a sort of puffiness look around your face and body? Because i thought i get that too, but i think that my edema (water retention) is caused by starchy carbohydrates like rice, potatoes, breads, spaguetti, or any food containing starchy carbohydrates
