A call to protect what is ours. What is your respect worth to you?

I remember when I was young growing up my every day walk to school led through the town square through some woods , down some side streets and past quite a few little mom and pop shops.
Donas donuts, Rays comic books, a small thrift shop, the house of pizza. I still remember the old American Video where I would stop by on the way home to check out any new Nitendo games they might have for rent.

I remember spending my weekends collecting cans or shoveling drive ways for cash with friends. Once we had enough cash for us all we spent the rest of the day at the small town shops buying candy, talking with the owners. I remember each and every shop keeper by name, they new me, they new my friends and even knew our parents and there parents too. It wasn't uncommon to have a 30 minunte or even 2 hour conversation with anyone of the shop keepers in my town.

I remember the old American Video had my Birthday on record and I always made it a point to go there the day of or the day after because they would give me a free rental.

Biron, john, and Dino the 3 old men who ran the House of Pizza in the square always took the time to talk, ask how life was going, how my parents were, had I seen the last foot ball game. They often gave me free meals or when I had no money had no problem fronting a pizza till next week. "You gotz good credit with me kid anything you want" I remember the words fondly just how he used to say them too.

As years have passed I have watched Donas Doughnuts tern into Dunken doughnuts . Rays comics into a E-bay store that you cant even buy from on site only online. As American Video was having their "going out of business sale" I asked Mr Jim why and he said " Net flix, red box, and On demand Nate".

I cant lie I am guilty as sin of renting many movies on demand. I have now even ordered Pizza delivery right on line. Its simple and its easy. But now I must say I miss the treatment I used to get from all thous shops.

Now when a order goes wrong or something gets messed up and I have to sit on the phone for 3 hours just praying to god a real live person pics up the phone sooner or later I miss the old mom and pop shops.

Its great having online banking I love being able to zip funds from one place to another in seconds. But when the system fails it almost always seems like " no one gives a damn". Like I am nothing more then another number shuffled through a line..

customer service is open from 9-5pm but there is a 1 800 bill pay line open 24 hours 7 days a week. If your ready to "pay" will take your call any time any damn day. but if its customer service you are looking for its Saterday and you will have to wait till Tusday morning because Monday is a Holiday..

The internet is changing everything around us and more then anything else its changing the way we do business. Every aspect of traditional business is affected by Internet tools and social networks. In fact the internet economy is like a country of its own now and one that boast more revenue then entire countries now.

I even find my self buying more and more things online then I do at the stores. Its just so much more easy to open up a screen , type in my cc info and boom wait for my goods.

But something is lost along the way. As I spend more and more of my time on the internet I find the level of respect and human compassion has been forgotten in this new age of technology.

Has our addiction to convenience lead us to ignore the slow death of those places which may have been less convenient, but more down to earth. Have we sold our souls, so we could spend less time among our fellow man and more time in front of a TV or a computer. Have we given away supporting the fellow working man
, so we could spend more time with ourselves and destroyed the very fabric that once held our communities and people together?
Have we allowed big business to stop thinking about us as the real people that we are and treat us all like numbers in a line?

Last night I sat down to dinner with GS the owner of this site elitefitness.com and we talked a lot about many things. I am home now in my house in front of my computer again like I always am and one single part of the evening resonates in my mind.

GS this sites owner asked me what we can do to make elite better. He talked about how he made the new server up grade so the site moved faster, we talked about the last transformation contest we just had and many other subjects. Then it came to me!!

Elite fitness is My small town. This site is the back roads I walked to school on. Jenifer from cheappinz.com , Jed from Mrsupps.com, Sarmsearch, Austin from extremepeptides, or lou from purchasepeptides. They are the guys that take time out to know me. Even me my self Needto/Nathan chase owner of Needtobuildmuscle.com I am the mom and pop shop.....

I said to GS what you can do is get out on the forums and be with your members. That is what makes this web site so great and that is what will continue to make it great. Over the past 5 years with the help of the owner and head Admin rick without really even thinking about it I have been striving to bring back what business used to be like.

We have a community here and to me that means something. There is people all around me that I can depend on. People I know!!!!
People who take time out of their day to talk with each other get to know each other.

The forum is a community within a whole new country of technology. Maybe some of the shops here cost a little more then others and maybe some don't. But the real value of all of them is that they are ours and I have found that they are all worth every penny if I can get back respect and being treated like I matter.

I support this community and many others. But more so the people of this community because unlike any other forum I have been a part of I have seen all of us here come together in so many different ways. Ways that other forums and sponsors of these forums dont.

I see a member make a thread about " Hey I have not gotten my order from orbit and I ordered last week" Or "I cant find Needto anyone know where he is" and before long you can see the entire community come together and inform each toher what is going on..

Hey bro needto's on a business trip he will be back next week but go ahead and pm his Wife Angel or her EF Shanna account.

No worries Orbit will be by shortly I will go call him and let him know you are looking for him!.

I never took the time to stop and think about this site this way but now I see it so clearly. The members here our my friends, My family, My neighbors. This site this forum is held together by the Community and I have always known this and always loved all of you.

But now I realize how much this forum means. Together we have built a town of our own here. But we can all do so much more to build this town. Supporting not just our sponsors but each other!!!!

When you are faced with the choice of telling some one to use the search, or worse calling them names. or going out of your way to help them you should always help them.

Together Us who come to this site every day who call this site home we should protect it like we would the neighborhoods we grew up in. When you need something you should get it from some one here who supports this Community and when you do he/they should thank you and treat you like you matter.

We all have something worth protecting here on this site. We have something worth standing up for and coming together for. We have a home even among the massive inter webs. Where every we go we can say " I am from elitefitness that is my home town. My friends are there and they know me".

I don't think there is a person alive who does not take just a little pride in there home town. When you travel or talk to people from other places. We all talk about the best little Bar on 10th street. We all talk about The Best places to go, to eat, to have a good time. We talk about these places with pride and we support our home teams too.

Here on the internet where business has become void of heart. Missing that person to person feel we used to get from the local shops. In a knew age where many have become desensitized to so others human emotions and feelings. We have the opportunity to change that.

Maybe not for the entire world but if only just for us here on this site. We have the opportunity to have a place for us. A place we call home, a place we know and love and take pride in.

And when we go out to other places we can speak highly and proudly of our home. Maybe others will take notice and want what we have.

"We must become the change we want to see."

Not a single person reading this wants to be treated like they don't matter. Not a single person reading this likes to be ignored, treated as a number, or as if they are no better then the next guy. We all want more for our selves. We all want to feel respected and important.

Then we must become for others what we want for our selves. Support the people we see here on this very forum treating others as well as our selves the way we want to be treated..

I am happy to say I have seen this happen here on elite but Fear every once in a wile we allow our selves to forget the importance of what we have here. A serge of outsiders come and change the atmosphere of our neighborhood.

We can not ever allow this to happen. And its our job as members of this community to defend what we have and never ever allow anyone to take it from us. We should all work hard to support this site, the members here, the people supporting it, and never let others devalue its true meaning and purpose for us all.

I know I have said a lot but its important to me and I know its equally important to many others here. If not then it should be!!! Maybe You did not see it before but Might see it a little more clearly now.

This is not just a msg board. Its not just the internet. This is elitefitness.com MY home, My house, My land, MY people, My community and NO ONE IS EVER GOING TO DEVALUE MY HOME. I REFUSE TO LET ANYONE COME TO MY TOWN AND SHIT ON IT. NOT NOW NOT EVER!!

DAmn right! and i have already told the members that i care for each and every one of them, this is my home also. I welcome the old faces that were absent for so long, and the new ones that show up willing to learn.

I take great pride in what i do here to make you the best you can be, every now and then i will recieve a pm from a lurker saying that reading my posts changed his life amd they will include before and after pics, these will range from 20 yrs olds to 70 yr olds and i am so humbled that i have had such an impact on someones life.

anyway i am proud to be a part of this community, this is my home..............Peace out!

I have been a member of a different board since its inception. That was over 15 years ago, and obviously my ID is different. I still go there but the amount of traffic as declined over the years. I remember they took me under their wings, and after over a year of research they gave me the green light and helped me with my first cycles. This was one of the best decisions I made, and I am forever in debt to them. That is why as of late, I have spread my stomping ground out a little, with the intent of passing on the message. That is why sometimes it is hard to sit silent when you see someone really making bad choices. However I am learning that you really do catch more bees with honey rather than vinegar.

Agree needto. It is our community. What I value most is the depth of knowledge and willingness to share that with others. I read everyting you, RADAR and Nelson post. Thank you for all you do.

if only morepeople were like you Nate, hell my own boss who i have worked for, for a long time and have made him a pretty penny treats me shittier than ntbm, orbit, mrsupps, sarmsearch, and all the other people on here i talk with (and i rock as an employee so pfft lol)

Good post. The internet simultaneously creates isolation, yet allows for interaction with a whole new world.

It's always "the best of times...the worst of times." It's all a matter of how you use it.

EF is a rare gem in regard to connecting with lots of friends while learning, resourcing and having some fun. I cherish it.

I look at NeedTo and some others like my internet family as well. We have lost some individuals in the years that I have been here but its been awesome overall. A lot of what I know about AS and BodyBuilding can be attributed to the fine members of EliteFitness. Wonderful post needto I agree completely.

Very heavy post, but oh so true. I've only been here a few months, and even though I don't post every day, I read just about every forum on a daily basis. This place is a fountain of knowledge, and must be protected.

Even as a newbie with less than 10 posts, Neeto, you treated me and advised me like someone you had known for 20 years. Even in your business practice, I'm taken care of. Be it your discounts, free lightning fast shipping, or the various free products and samples I have received in EVERY order I've gotten from you. Thank you my friend.

Radar, you took the time to answer every single PM I sent you, and have completely turned my diet, as well as my nutritional lifestyle around. Thank you my friend.

A host of others deserve thanks as well. Hurricane (and Radar) on peptides, Orbit for sales and advice, SouthernLord, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Thank you all.

I've truly found a new "family" here at Elite.

I'm still hangin' around. Been a good run :)
