Cote d'Ivoire prepare for Serbia & Montenegro
Cote d’Ivoire and Serbia & Montenegro both hope to finish the World Cup on a winning note when they face each other in their final group match on Wednesday.
Cote d’Ivoire are +110 favourites to win the match Serbia & Montenegro are +225 underdogs The Draw is priced +225
The Serbs are hoping a victory will help erase some of the shame they suffered after a 6-0 loss to Argentina. After a respectable opening 1-0 loss to the Netherlands in their opening match, the Serbian defence was non-existent against Argentina in their second game. The Argentines fired eight shots on target, six of them resulting in goals. Despite the barrage, the Serbian goalkeeper was largely faultless.
As poorly as their defence played last match, Serbia’s attack has also been powerless in this tournament. Serbia & Montenegro failed to score so far and only put a combined five shots on target in their first two games. Ball possession has also killed the Eastern Europeans, with only 42% against Argentina and 39% against the Netherlands. Those numbers will have to improve if Serbia want to finish this tournament on a high.
Cote d’Ivoire fought hard in both of their 2-1 defeats. But conceding the first two goals in the first half of both matches was too much for them to overcome.
Didier Drogba, who scored in their opening game, will miss his team’s final match due to suspension after receiving his second yellow card against Holland. Mateja Kezman is also out of the Serbian lineup after picking up a red card and Ognjen Koroman will miss out for getting two yellows.
