Tunisia hope to slow down Spain
Spain couldn’t have asked for a better start to their 2006 World Cup campaign, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Ukraine. The Spaniards will want to carry that momentum over to their second round match with Tunisia on Monday.
Spain are -325 favourites to win the match Tunisia are +930 underdogs The Draw is priced +350
Xabi Alonso opened the scoring in the 13th minute for Spain. David Villa also scored a pair of goals, and Fernando Torres added a goal late in the game. The Spanish defence held Ukraine to only two shots on target. It was a picture perfect match against a team that was expected to give Spain their toughest challenge in the group stage.
Unlike Spain, however, Tunisia were unable to earn a victory in their opening match against Saudi Arabia. Nonetheless, they are still satisfied with their result. After conceding a goal in the 84th minute, it appeared Tunisia were heading for a 2-1 loss. But a injury time strike from Radhi Jaidi allow the Tunisians to grab a 2-2 draw and salvage a point in the group standings.
After watching Spain dismantle a capable Ukrainian side, Tunisia know they face an uphill struggle against the Spaniards. But if they can play like they did in the first half against Saudi Arabia, the Eagles of Carthage can make it a close contest.
