Ghana hopes to give Czechs a fight
After picking up an impressive 3-0 victory over the United States in their opening match, the Czech Republic will now get ready to kick off with Ghana in their second match on Saturday.
The Czechs are -150 favourites to win the match Ghana are +450 outsiders The Draw is priced +240
Ranked second in the FIFA World Rankings, the Czechs were expected to be a dangerous team in this tournament and they proved it in their first match against the Americans. Completely dominating the United States in every aspect of the game, they cruised to an easy three points and currently sit on top of Group E.
Jan Koller gave the Czechs a quick start, scoring a header in the fifth minute. But in the 45th minute it appeared Koller was done for the tournament after he injured his hamstring and was carried off on a stretcher. Word now is the injury is not as bad as it appeared and Koller could be back in time for the second round. This is big news for the Czechs as the 6’7 forward plays a key role in their attack.
Meanwhile, Ghana are coming off a 2-0 loss to Italy in their first ever World Cup match. Despite not scoring, Ghana played a hard fought game. But in the end, they were simply out-skilled by a more experienced Italian squad.
If Ghana hope to give the Czechs more of a fight than the Americans did, they will have to find a way to shut down their potent offence and capitalize on their scoring chances.
