Would a 5x5 program be okay for the gf? She is 5'7 135lbs, 21yrs old. I have been doing 5x5 myself for a couple months now with good results.

I'm sort of bumping you so you don't get lost in the shuffle, but the short answer is: Yes. The thing is, women can train just like men, they just can't lift as much weight and there's some exercises women aren't really interested in (for example, most women don't want big bulging traps). But if she's enthusiastic about lifting weights, not intimidated, and can avoid the trap of thinking "big heavy iron = big butchy muscles" then any solid, compound muscle training system, as long as she's consistent, is going to be great for her, both in long and short term benefits.

I told her that the only way she will get big and bulky is if she goes on a cycle.

That is not even true unless she doing something strong like test and her diet is crazy high cals then yes. In most cases getting bulky look depends on the diet. Also I have done 5X5 in the begining a lot as well as everynow and again in my off season I love it great for building strength and muscle.

I also used a variation of a 5 x 5 this past off season and really liked it! My cals could have been higher so that I would have benefited even more, but either way I do feel it helped me put on a decent amount of muscle!

Hello ladies. I am asking for your advise. I am working on a 5x5, my wife is training also but with some other program. She is changing gym now so she will not have a personal trainer and she asked me to help her in her training.

She has little extra weight on her hips due to pregnancy that she wants to get rid off. From waist and up she is very ok but waist down she has some extra kg. She is doing 90% healthy diet.

Can 5X5 combined with cardio HIT and incline walking be helpful? please advise and also if you have any other advise or training program for ladies that you reccomend i will be very glad to have it. Thanks

i'm thinking of doing the 5X5. real simple and straightforward.

strength and muscle mass are wanted here!:p

what kind of variation?

Before we continue, please elaborate on the 90% healthy diet. Many think they're eating healthy, but really.....not so much. Can you tell us what she's eating? :)
