PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Chad Tracy and the Arizona Diamondbacks aim for a sweep of their two-game series with the Chicago Cubs when the teams square off Thursday at Chase Field.
After getting off to a slow start this season, Tracy has been swinging a hot bat of late. Over his last five games, Tracy is batting .381 (8-for-21) with two home runs and 10 RBI.
Tracy blasted a three-run homer Wednesday and Miguel Batista allowed one run over seven strong frames as Arizona posted a 5-1 victory in the series opener.
The Diamondbacks on Thursday give the ball to Juan Cruz (0-0, 2.65 ERA), who impressed in his first start on Saturday. The hard-throwing righthander yielded one run in five innings but did not factor in the decision of a 3-2 loss at San Francisco.
Chicago counters with rookie Rich Hill (NR), who makes his season debut. The promising 6-5 lefthander struggled last season, going 0-2 with a 9.13 ERA in 10 appearances, including four starts.
