- The San Diego Padres and the Florida Marlins will both be trying to pick up a win on Friday when they battle at Dolphin Stadium.

The Padres will trot Greg Maddux out to the mound in this one. Righthander Maddux has a 2-2 record and a 3.86 ERA this season.

Starting this game for the Marlins will be ace Dontrelle Willis. The lefthander has a 5.59 ERA to go along with a 5-1 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Marlins listed as 130-moneyline favorites versus the Padres, while the game's total has not yet been posted.

The Padres scored five runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat the Nationals 7-3 Wednesday night. The Padres won the game as -175 favorites at home, while the combined 10 runs were OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

Marcus Giles was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Doug Brocail pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.

The Marlins were doubled 6-3 by the Mets as +155 underdogs last time out. The nine runs were just UNDER the posted over/under (9.5).

Miguel Cabrera was 1-for-3 with a RBI single. Anibal Sanchez suffered the loss, giving up three runs off seven hits in just over three innings of work.

basically against maddux you're going to get a hit an inning(on average) to do something with
no walks

Marlins 5, Padres 4

After struggling for five frames, the Padres broke through for four runs in the sixth off Dontrelle Willis, with Mike Cameron's three-run triple the big blow. But reliever Scott Linebrink allowed back-to-back homers in the eighth, and Greg Maddux's six frames of three-run ball went for naught.
