CLE: Johnson(2-1, 3.41 ERA)
OAK: Saarloos(0-0, 5.14 ERA)
Cleveland (15-13) at Oakland (14-13) 3:35 pm EDT
OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Indians will look to make Kirk Saarloos the next victim of their surging offense.
On the heels of their fifth double-digit scoring outburst already this season, the Indians will look to complete a two-game sweep of the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.
Travis Hafner homered and drove in four runs for the third straight game and Jason Michaels had four of Cleveland's 18 hits in a 14-3 rout in Wednesday's series opener. Casey Blake capped a nine-run seventh inning with a three-run homer for the Indians, whose 185 runs are 27 more than any other major league team this season.
Cleveland's most recent offensive display came with arguably its best hitter out of the lineup. Victor Martinez has reached base safely in 42 straight games, dating to last season, and ranks tied for second in the majors with a .386 average. But he sat out Wednesday's game.
The Indians will look to improve upon their staggering 6.6 runs per game when they face Saarloos (0-0, 5.14 ERA), who will be making his first start of the season. Since allowing eight runs and eight hits in his first four innings of 2006, Saarloos has given up just three runs - two earned - in his last 10 frames.
Saarloos went 10-9 with a 4.17 ERA in 2005, when all but two of his 29 appearances came as a starter. He went 0-1 despite a 3.27 ERA in two starts against Cleveland last year.
The Indians will counter with Jason Johnson (2-1, 3.41), who has managed just a 1-7 record with a 4.76 ERA in 13 lifetime games - 12 starts - against the A's. As a member of the Detroit Tigers last year, Johnson went 0-2 with a 5.51 ERA vs. Oakland.
Bob Wickman needs one more save to become Cleveland's all-time leader in that category. Wickman currently is tied with Doug Jones (129 saves) on the franchise list.
