Chicago Cubs (17-25) at Chi White Sox (28-14) 2:05 pm EDT
CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Jose Contreras hopes that his return to the Chicago White Sox will have a calming influence.
The righthander will make his first start in more than two weeks after coming off the disabled list prior to Sunday's finale of a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs.
Sidelined since May 4 with a pinched nerve in his right hip, Contreras (5-0, 1.41 ERA) will look to follow up the stellar outings by Mark Buerhle and Freddy Garcia in the first two games of the series.
Despite posting a 7-0 win on Saturday behind eight strong innings by Garcia, the victory was overshadowed by an incident in the second inning between catchers A.J. Pierzynski of the White Sox and Michael Barrett of the Cubs.
Believing that Pierzynski was trying to taunt his team after knocking him over when scoring on a sacrifice fly, Barrett grabbed his catching counterpart and punched him in the jaw, igniting a bench-clearing incident.
Both Barrett and Pierzynski were ejected, along with Brian Anderson of the White Sox and John Mabry of the Cubs.
Regardless of the incident, Tadahito Iguchi highlighted the second with his first career grand slam and finished with two homers and a career-high six RBI.
Carlos Zambrano (2-2, 3.34) will try to help the Cubs avoid their first sweep to their local rivals since 1999. The righthander has won his last two starts, yielding just one run in 16 frames.
