PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Although the Philadelphia Phillies have hit a rough stretch, Ryan Howard has been doing his best to try and turn things around.

Howard looks to help the Phillies snap a five-game losing streak and win for the first time in seven interleague games on Sunday when they host the Boston Red Sox.

The 26-year-old Howard has eight home runs in May and 13 this season to rank among the National League leaders. He belted a two-run shot for the Phillies in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Red Sox.

Philadelphia calls upon Cory Lidle (3-4, 4.84 ERA), who has not faced Boston since July 19, 2003. In his most recent outing, he did not get a decision Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers after giving up two runs and five hits in six innings.

Looking for its 11th win in 14 games, Boston gives the ball to Lenny DiNardo (1-1, 6.17). He recorded his first career victory May 7 against Baltimore, yielding two runs and two hits in five frames.

Josh Beckett became the first Red Sox pitcher to hit a home run since Marty Pattin in 1972 and worked seven innings to raise his record to 6-1 on Saturday.
