San Diego (10-15) at San Francisco (13-12) 3:35 pm EDT
SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) - The San Francisco Giants are expected to have Barry Bonds in the lineup Tuesday when they try to gain a split of their two-game series with the San Diego Padres.
Bonds was hit with a pitch by Jake Peavy on the right little finger in the third inning Monday and eventually left the game after a pair of hitless at-bats. X-rays were not necessary.
The 40-year-old slugger has not hit a home run since Wednesday and remains at 711, three shy of Hall of Famer Babe Ruth for second place on the all-time list.
Brian Giles had three hits and drove in two runs for the Padres, who scored seven times in the fourth inning of Monday's 10-4 triumph over the Giants.
Woody Williams (1-1, 3.04 ERA) makes his fifth start of the season for San Diego. Winless since April 11, he took the loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday after surrendering two runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
The Giants counter with Matt Morris (2-1, 5.19), who makes his sixth start with San Francisco after spending eight seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. He yielded four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday against the New York Mets without getting a decision.
