OAK: Halsey(0-0, 1.42 ERA)
LAA: Lackey(3-1, 3.09 ERA)
Oakland (13-12) at LA Angels (12-14) 3:35 pm EDT
ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Lefthander Brad Halsey will get a chance to impress as a member of the Oakland Athletics' rotation.
Making his first start since being acquired in an offseason trade, Halsey will face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Tuesday's finale of a two-game series.
Filling in for Rich Harden, who experienced back spasms in the fourth inning of Thursday's 6-4 victory over Texas and subsequently was placed on the disabled list, Halsey will make his first start since August 30. The 25-year-old Halsey joined the A's in the spring training deal that sent Juan Cruz to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Halsey has not allowed a run in his last seven relief appearances, spanning 10 2/3 innings. He retired all five Angels he faced on April 22 and worked a season-high three innings in Harden's last start four days later.
Despite managing just four hits, Oakland claimed Monday's series opener behind 7 2/3 strong innings from Barry Zito and an RBI single from Bobby Crosby. Justin Duchscherer notched his second save in place of reigning American League Rookie of the Year Huston Street, who has not pitched since April 18 due to a strained pectoral muscle.
The A's will look to extend their season-high winning streak to five games against John Lackey (3-1, 3.09), who allowed just one hit in eight innings of a 4-0 win against Detroit on Thursday. In his last four starts, Lackey has gone 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA.
In a start against Oakland on April 21, Lackey allowed just two runs and two hits in five innings but issued a season-high seven walks. He was not involved in the decision, an eventual 5-3 loss that represented Oakland's only triumph in the three-game series.
Lackey owns a mark of 6-1 with a 3.27 ERA in 14 lifetime starts against the A's.
