4 days into CKD and still not in ketosis??

I've fasted for 10.5 days on pure water (absolutely nothing else) and only been in 'trace' ketosis (4 mmol/l) near day 10. The web site that 'The Nature Boy' gave says that some people use the ketones there body produces differently, and they are not expelled in the urine. Also I may have been super-hydrating and diluted my urine too much.

By the way,.. good site for info Nature Boy!!!

no problem bro, somehow I think the most accurate way of testing for ketones is a blood tester. but those things seem a little too pricey for me.

FINALLY IN KETOSIS!! hell i may have been in and it just wasn't registering because of all the water im drinking... i cut back on the water for about 2-3 hours and after i ate supper i waited 30 minutes and tested.. i showed small amounts of ketones. :)

Dude.....like I told you in the email, don't stop drinking water just so you show a "positive" test. Being that you are under 20g of carbs, you need all the water you're drinking to stay hydrated.

I know a guy who didn't drink water his first couple of days off of a carbup, so he could tell how fast he gets back into ketosis, and his body cramped from his chest to his knees.

Imagine a calf cramp multiplied by 100 over 50% of your body.

You may very well be in ketosis. They don't always show up in your urine. In any event you are doing everything right. Stay after it, and eventually your body will adapt to it, and will go into ketosis much easier. It can take several weeks.

is ketosiss good for someine in their teens ?

BIG BROCK, ketosis is not an unhealthy state for most people. Its a perfectly normal human state. There have been many generations of humans in all of out ancestory who spent most of their lives in it. Most hunter gatherer societies (well the one's that don't have access to fruit) would pretty much be in ketosis from infancy till death. If you eat nothing but meats and green veggitables your entire life, you'll never be in glucosis. You are either in glucosis, ketosis, or are dead. Those are the only 3 choices in this regard. Since most people in modern american culture have been in glucosis their entire live, ketosis can be a bit hard on them until they adapt. It would be the same situation if you tried to give a 25-year-old from a society that ate nothing but meat and veggies alot of rice or sugar to eat. He wouldn't be used to glucosis, and it would take time to adapt.
