Ny Rangers (36-17-8) at Atlanta (29-27-6) 7:00 pm EST
ATLANTA (Ticker) - If the New York Rangers are going to avoid a three-game losing streak, they will have to do so against one of the league's hottest teams.
The Rangers try to snap out of their scoring slump Wednesday as they host the Atlanta Thrashers, winners of five of their last six games.
New York extended its winning streak to seven games Thursday with a 6-1 triumph against Philadelphia. The Rangers since have dropped consecutive 2-1 decisions to New Jersey and Carolina, however, to watch their lead in the Atlantic Division slimmed to two points.
In Monday's loss to the Hurricanes, rookie goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 17 saves - all in the first two periods - and Steve Rucchin scored the lone goal for the Rangers, who have not dropped three straight since December 31-January 5.
Atlanta is three points behind Montreal for the Eastern Conference's final playoff berth as it continues to stalk the first postseason appearance in franchise history.
The Thrashers' latest victory came Monday in a 4-3 shootout triumph over Florida. Vyacheslav Kozlov scored the lone goal of the shootout and Marian Hossa had a goal and an assist in regulation for Atlanta, which has dropped both meetings with New York this season by a combined score of 11-4.
