Carolina (43-14) at Philadelphia (34-18-10) 7:00 pm EST
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - It is time to acknowledge the Carolina Hurricanes as the class of the Eastern Conference.
The Hurricanes take the ice in search of their sixth straight victory Wednesday when they skate with the Philadelphia Flyers for the fourth time this season.
Carolina, which has a league-best 90 points, has not lost since February 10 vs. Pittsburgh. The Hurricanes have posted five wins by a total of eight goals since, including Monday's 2-1 triumph over the New York Rangers.
Martin Gerber made 37 saves and Kevyn Adams and Jason Williams scored as Carolina won its first game since losing Erik Cole - the team's second-leading scorer - to a broken vertebra on Saturday.
Philadelphia picked up a much-needed win Monday, a 5-4 shootout victory against Montreal. The Flyers squandered a two-goal lead late in the third period but Peter Forsberg and Petr Nedved scored in the shootout to help the team snapped its four-game skid.
The Hurricanes are 2-0-1 against the Flyers this season, including a 4-3 shootout triumph in the last meeting on January 17.
