UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) - The New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders have become very familiar with each other of late. Only the Islanders have seemed to enjoy the relationship.

The Islanders go for their third win over the Devils in a span of six games when the teams meet Tuesday.

Although it still trails New Jersey by 13 points in the Atlantic Division and is nine points out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, New York has made the most of its meetings with its area rival.

The Islanders posted a 2-1 victory in the final meeting between the teams before the Olympic break and earned a 3-2 triumph here Thursday. They followed that up with a victory over Philadelphia before dropping a 5-2 decision at Washington on Monday.

Arron Asham pulled New York into a 1-1 tie at 7:25 of the second period before the Capitals scored twice to finish the frame and take control. Defenseman Joel Bouchard had a goal and an assist for the Islanders, who are 14-14-2 at home this season.

New Jersey recovered from its last lost to the Islanders by posting a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday. Brian Gionta snapped a 1-1 tie with the game-winner midway through the second period and Martin Brodeur made 26 saves.

The Devils are 16-4-2 in 2006 and are within seven points of the Flyers in both the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference standings.
