ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) - With an eye toward strengthening their playoff push, the Los Angeles Kings aim for a season-high fifth straight win when they visit the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
After entering the Olympic break with a pair of victories, the Kings have returned to action with two more, including a 3-2 triumph over the Wild on Thursday in which defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky scored with less than three minutes left for Los Angeles.
The Kings followed that up with an identical result against Columbus two days later, recording a fourth straight win for the second time this season. Michael Cammalleri scored on a power play with 5:55 left for the game-winner.
Steve Avery had a pair of tallies for Los Angeles, which enters Tuesday in seventh place in the Western Conference, a point out of sixth and ahead of eighth.
The Wild came off a 1-3-1 road trip that ended with four straight losses to claim a milestone victory Sunday. With a 5-3 triumph over Colorado, Minnesota coach Jacques Lemaire earned his 400th career NHL victory.
Marian Gaborik's shorthanded tally 5:36 into the third period snapped a 3-3 tie and helped lift the Wild to an 18-12-1 mark at home.
