Philadelphia (33-17-10) at NY Islanders (26-28-4) 7:00 pm EST
UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) - The Philadelphia Flyers are desperate for a victory. Fortunately, they are facing a team that they have dominated this season.
The Flyers look to avoid losing a fourth straight game Saturday when they visit the New York Islanders for an Atlantic Division showdown.
Philadelphia has come out of the Olympic break and dropped back-to-back contests against division rivals. After falling in a shootout to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday, the Flyers dropped an ugly 6-1 decision to the New York Rangers one day later.
Rookie defenseman Freddy Meyer scored the lone goal for Philadelphia, which has managed only one goal in each of its last two games and has three goals or fewer in 14 of its last 17 contests.
The Islanders also are having trouble scoring, but at least they are pulling out some victories. In Thursday's 3-2 shootout win against the Devils, Rick DiPietro made 26 saves and also stopped a pair of shootout attempts.
Defenseman Brent Sopel and Jason Blake scored in regulation and Miroslav Satan and Trent Hunter tallied in the shootout for New York, which has scored three goals or fewer in five straight games.
The Flyers are 4-1 against the Islanders this season, including a 5-2 triumph on February 8 behind Mike Richards' first career hat trick and goals by fellow rookies Jeff Carter and R.J. Umberger.
