Columbus (23-34-2) at Los Angeles (33-23-5) 4:00 pm EST
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - Both the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets picked up where they left off prior to the Olympic break. However, only the Kings are happy about it.
Los Angeles looks to post its fourth straight victory Saturday as it hosts Columbus, which is trying to snap a three-game skid.
The Kings endured a seven-game losing streak from January 24-February 8 to sink to the eighth seed in the Western Conference standings. However, they won their final two games before the Olympic break and followed up with a third straight one-goal victory Thursday, a 3-2 triumph over Minnesota.
Michael Cammalleri and Luc Robitaille gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead and, after the Wild rallied to tie it, defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky came through with the game winning goal with 2 1/2 minutes left.
Craig Conroy had two assists and Mathieu Garon made 29 saves for his third straight victory for the Kings, who played without two of their top forwards, Pavol Demitra and Alexander Frolov, both of whom were injured in the Olympics.
Columbus dropped its final two contests prior to the sabbatical and followed up after the layoff with a 1-0 defeat against Colorado on Thursday. Rookie goaltender Pascal Leclaire made 39 saves but the Blue Jackets went 0-for-6 with the power play in losing for the fourth time in five games since a franchise-record five-game winning streak.
