Carolina (41-14-4) at Pittsburgh (14-35-11) 7:30 pm EST
PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - The last time the Pittsburgh Penguins played the Carolina Hurricanes, the hockey world was turned upside-down.
The NHL-worst Penguins hope to beat the league-leading Hurricanes for the second time in a month Saturday when the teams meet for the third time this season.
On February 10, Pittsburgh posted a 4-3 triumph over Carolina behind a goal and an assist apiece from John LeClair and rookie sensation Sidney Crosby. Eric Boguniecki and Mark Recchi also tallied for the Penguins, who had lost four of their previous five meetings with the Hurricanes.
Since that loss, Carolina has rebounded to win three straight games, capped by Friday's 5-2 win against Florida. Eric Staal and Erik Cole each scored two goals for the Hurricanes, who improved to a league-best 26-5-1 at home.
However, Carolina plays nine of its next 10 games on the road, beginning Saturday.
Pittsburgh, which has lost four straight home games and nine of 10, is coming off a 4-3 loss to Ottawa on Wednesday despite third-period goals from LeClair, Andre Roy and Jani Rita.
