Buffalo (37-16-5) at Boston (25-25-10) 7:00 pm EST
BOSTON (Ticker) - Perhaps the Boston Bruins would be better positioned in the Eastern Conference standings if they could find a way to beat the Buffalo Sabres once in a while.
The Sabres look to defeat the Bruins for the fourth time in as many meetings this season when the Northeast Division rivals face off Saturday.
Buffalo is 3-0 with two ties in its last five meetings with Boston, but the teams have not faced each other since November 19.
The Sabres enter this matchup coming off Friday's emotional 6-2 triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs. After the team retired former captain Pat LaFontaine's jersey prior to the game, Derek Roy paid tribute to the Hall of Famer by recording his first career hat trick in the victory.
Maxim Afinogenov collected three assists to extend his points streak to six games. Ryan Miller made 21 saves to improve to 15-4-2 with 2.03 goals-against average since returning from a fractured thumb in December.
Boston, which trails Montreal by four points for the eighth spot in the standings, snapped a three-game losing streak Thursday with a 3-2 win vs. Atlanta. Marco Sturm's power-play goal with 2:41 remaining provided the difference in just the Bruins' second win in seven games.
