3/3 NHL: Vancouver Canucks at Chicago Blackhawks

CHICAGO (Ticker) - Captain Markus Naslund and the Vancouver Canucks hope to end their three-game road trip on a winning note Friday when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Canucks have won six of their last nine and enter Friday's contest trailing first-place Calgary (34-18-7) by two points in the Northwest Division.

Vancouver opened its road swing with a 2-1 triumph at Calgary on Tuesday. But the Canucks fell out of first place two days later with a 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Naslund opened the scoring just over two minutes into the second period with his team-leading 28th goal, but the Canucks struggled on special teams, going 1-of-11 on the power play while allowing a go-ahead shorthanded goal.

"Giving up power-play goals and shorthanded goals are just uncalled for, it's something you can't do," Vancouver right wing Todd Bertuzzi said. "I thought we played well, we had the majority of the chances. We just made costly mistakes at the wrong times."

The Canucks hope to correct those mistakes Friday against a Blackhawks squad fresh off a 3-0 triumph over the Predators on Wednesday.

Rookie Craig Anderson made 20 saves to record his second career shutout for Chicago, which won for just the fourth time in their last 14 contests.
