On a night where they'll honor past greats, the present-day New York Knicks continue their quest to avoid finishing with the worst record in the NBA when they host the fading Boston Celtics.
The Knicks and the Hall of Fame announced a partnership last week that will bring "Hall of Famers and Legends" night to Madison Square Garden. Fans will get the opportunity to meet former players, view memorabilia from the Hall of Fame and participate in contests for a variety of prizes.
Former Knicks Dick McGuire, Walt Bellamy, Harry Gallatin, John Starks, Charles Oakley and Allan Houston are expected to be in attendance as New York tries to end a five-game losing streak.
The Knicks are in danger of posting their lowest win total since the 82-game schedule began in 1967-68. Their worst finish since then was 23-59 in 1985-86.

New York extended its skid with a 98-94 loss at Minnesota on Sunday. The Knicks battled back from a 25-point deficit, but again came up short.
"We could have easily given up and moved on with our lives," guard Jamal Crawford said. "But we wanted to continue and keep playing. ... Nobody wants to be embarrassed."
Boston is also struggling lately, but is still in contention for a playoff spot. The Celtics have lost two straight and seven of their last 10 to fall four games back of eighth-place Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference.
"We've been playing for the eighth spot all season," said Paul Pierce, who had 24 points in Boston's 101-97 defeat to Chicago on Sunday. "So it was unfortunate to lose. But we're still in it. We're in it until they tell us otherwise."
Pierce was held to just two points in the fourth quarter on 1-of-10 shooting as the Bulls outscored the Celtics 33-19 in the period to overcome a 10-point deficit. Boston outrebounded Chicago 48-37, but committed 19 turnovers.
"In the fourth quarter, we weren't on the same page," Pierce said. "They made turnovers on crucial moments, and it cost us. They punched us, and we didn't punch back."
The Celtics have won both meetings with the Knicks this season to improve to 14-4 in the series since the start of the 2001-02 season. These teams meet again in Boston on April 9.
