Dallas (54-16) at Detroit (55-14) 7:30 pm EST
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - For most of the season, the Detroit Pistons have been able to send their fans home in a positive mood.
The Pistons look to bounce back from a rare home loss and extend their advantage in the race for the league's best record Tuesday when they host the Dallas Mavericks.
Detroit lost for the third time in 33 home games this season - the first in regulation - with Sunday's 79-74 defeat against the New Jersey Nets, which snapped a 16-game home winning streak.
Richard Hamilton scored 19 points and Antonio McDyess grabbed 18 rebounds for the Pistons, who managed only 10 first-quarter points and shot just 34 percent (30-of-88) from the floor.
However, Detroit continues to hold the league's best record and has a 1 1/2-game lead over San Antonio and Dallas for home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
Playing the second contest of a four-game road trip, the Mavericks are tied with the Spurs for the top spot in the Southwest Division and the Western Conference.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Jason Terry had 26 points for Dallas in Saturday's 98-83 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks.
The Mavericks are 24-10 on the road and have taken five of the last seven encounters with the Pistons. Dallas made 17-of-21 shots and scored 40 points in the first quarter of a 119-82 win over Detroit on November 19.
