Miami (45-22) at Detroit (53-13) 8:00 pm EST
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat collide Wednesday in a possible preview of the Eastern Conference finals.
The Pistons, who need one win or a Cleveland loss to secure their fourth Central Division title in five seasons, have a one-half game lead over San Antonio (53-14) for the best record in the NBA.
Detroit also has an 8 1/2-game lead against Miami for the top mark in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons can reduce their magic number for clinching the East's top mark to six with a victory Wednesday.
The Pistons are coming off of a 91-84 victory here against Atlanta in which they clinched no worse than a tie for the division crown. Rasheed Wallace scored 26 points and Tayshaun Prince added 18 for Detroit, which cut its magic number for the outright division title to one.
The Heat, who have lost six of the last seven meetings in Detroit, may have to again play without star center Shaquille O'Neal, who missed Tuesday's 100-96 loss because of a sore thumb.
Miami will have Dwyane Wade in the lineup. The last time the Heat and Pistons collided, Wade scored Miami's last 17 points, including a go-ahead jumper with 2.3 seconds left in a 100-98 victory on February 12.
Wade finished with 37 in the contest and 33 in the first meeting here December 29, a 109-101 Detroit victory.
