Buffalo (44-17-5) at Atlanta (32-29-6) 7:00 pm EST
ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Two days after absorbing losses, the Buffalo Sabres and Atlanta Thrashers hope to get back on track.
Buffalo had won eight straight prior to Saturday's 4-2 defeat against Ottawa. Ryan Miller made a career-high 45 saves and Daniel Briere and Maxim Afinogenov scored for the Sabres, who had not lost since a 4-2 setback to the Thrashers on March 1.
Atlanta also had been playing solid hockey prior to suffering a 4-2 defeat against Philadelphia on Saturday. The Thrashers lost for just the third time in 11 games despite a goal and an assist from Bobby Holik.
The Thrashers, who never have made the playoffs in franchise history, trail the Montreal Canadiens by only one point for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, Buffalo sits only five points behind the first-place Ottawa Senators in the Northeast Division.
The Sabres had won four straight meetings with the Thrashers, including both this season, prior to their loss earlier this month.
