Dallas (38-17-3) at Phoenix (27-28-4) 9:00 pm EST
GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) - The Phoenix Coyotes hope things improve after the Olympic break. They certainly can't get much worse.
The Coyotes hope to put an end to their struggles Thursday when they host the Dallas Stars in a Pacific Division contest.
The least of Phoenix's problems before the break was a four-game losing streak that led into the Olympics. The Coyotes have dropped six of their last seven games overall, allowing at least four goals in five of those contests.
The Coyotes' biggest issue over the last month, however, has been the allegations surrounding associate coach Rick Tocchet, who was implicated for his reported involvement in an illegal gambling ring.
Several NHL players, as well as Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky' wife, Janet Jones, also were rumored to be involved in the scandal, which shook up the hockey world in the last few weeks prior to the break.
Phoenix hopes to get back on track against a Dallas team it already has played six times this season. The Stars have won four of those meetings, including the last two by the combined score of 9-2.
Dallas closed out the first portion of its schedule with back-to-back road losses to San Jose and Los Angeles. The Stars allowed six tallies in each game, including a one-goal setback to the Kings on February 12.
Jason Arnott and defenseman Sergei Zubov each collected a goal and two assists for Dallas, which squandered a 4-1 lead in the third period to absorb its first losing streak in nearly a month.
