COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Riding a recent wave of momentum, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are creeping closer to the final Western Conference playoff berth.

The Mighty Ducks can win for the fifth time in six games Sunday when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets in their final matchup of the season.

Sparked by its improved play, Anaheim is in ninth place in the West, trailing Vancouver by two points, while leading San Jose by two.

Andy McDonald scored both goals for the Mighty Ducks in Friday's 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

With 24 tallies this season, McDonald has surpassed his previous season high by 14 and is three goals from matching his career total prior to the start of the campaign.

Last in the league with 168 goals, Columbus has lost three in a row and has a four-point edge over Chicago and St. Louis in the race to avoid last place in the West.

Ron Hainsey scored his second goal of the season and Manny Malhotra added his fourth for the Blue Jackets in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, their fifth straight one-goal contest.

In their last encounter, Columbus got the shootout clincher from Rick Nash in a 3-2 win over Anaheim on March 5, giving the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead in the season series.
